Become a Contributor

ProgressiveWayneCounty.org is looking for contributing authors to help raise the level of public discourse in Richmond and Wayne County, Indiana.  Read on if you’re interested in being paid to write for PWC.

Format and Frequency

We’re looking for 400 to 600 word contributions in which you share your views on pretty much any topic with some kind of local or regional connection.

You can write about arts and culture, politics, spirituality, technology, education, economics…whatever you think will be compelling and worthwhile for PWC readers.

Regardless of your background or political affiliation, we’re looking for authors with ideas, insights and good questions that provoke conversation about how to move Wayne County forward.

Our hope is to encourage regular submissions from our contributors, at least once per month.

Submitted contributions may be edited for space or content, but we’ll confirm any significant changes with you before publication.  Being a contributor doesn’t mean giving up ownership of your work or even granting PWC exclusive use of it, we just ask that you hold off on publishing it anywhere else until 3 days after it has appeared on this site.

Contributor Compensation (as of January 2012)

We want to encourage thought-provoking writing while valuing the time of our contributors, and so we offer the following compensation incentive:

PWC will pay US$20 for each contribution that is accepted for publication and published on the site.

Payment for contributions is available in one of three forms:

  1. Dwolla payment, available within 7 days of publication with no processing fees (you must have a free Dwolla account)
  2. PayPal payment, available within 7 days of publication where any processing fees are paid by recipient (you must have a free PayPal account)
  3. Check payment, available when the balance due to you has reached or exceeded $60 (you must provide a valid postal address)

  

This compensation structure is experimental and subject to change at any time, but we will certainly honor the structure in place at the time of a contribution’s publication.

How to Apply

Are you interested in being a PWC contributor?  Please fill out the form below and follow the related instructions.  Fields in bold are required.

Once you’ve submitted your form, you’ll be asked to send two writing samples to us.  The samples will help us understand your writing style.   These submitted samples can be in pretty much any form (text document, PDF, word processing, links to existing web pages, etc.)
