NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 2008) – R&B fusion recording artist Traci Root will return to the Midwest region for a series of July concerts, including an appearance in Richmond, Ind. on July 26. The artist is represented by the independent record label management firm Indie Extreme.

Root, who is pursuing a music career in Nashville, Tenn., will perform at Glen Miller Park at 7 p.m. July 26 (Saturday) as part of the Concert in the Park series. Admission is free. Glen Miller Park is located on East Main Street between Segarden Drive and North 30th Street.

Formerly of Fairfield, Ohio, Root has received critical acclaim for an “energetic and soul-stirring” style that combines classic R&B with modern soul, jazz, hip-hop and pop-rock. She has drawn up to 40,000 people to performances in Southeast Asia and received radio airplay around the world. Her song, I Will Carry You, which was dedicated to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, has been used by the social welfare organization Foundation Life.

Root, whose maiden name was Snowden, was born in Richmond, Ind., and graduated from Fairfield (Ohio) High School in 1997. She received her bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She is the daughter of Scott and Lisa Marling of Ohio and Tracy and Becky Snowden of Kentucky.

The artist spent much of her childhood performing at The Richmond Civic Theatre. Now she returns to her home turf with her debut album, Greener On This Side, and selections from her forthcoming EP, Love Hard. Her singles Dedicate and Beautiful Ride have reached audiences around the world.

“I am really looking forward to reconnecting with old friends in the area and making new ones,” said Root, whose July tour features stops in Cincinnati, Richmond, Eaton and Middletown.
