The Money Question: Pricing Your Artwork

Chamber Spring Cleanup

The 2007 Richmond-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Spring Clean-up will be happening on Saturday, April 21 (rescheduled from the original date of the 14th due to bad weather). A free breakfast will be served at the Chamber office (33 South 7th Street in Richmond) at 8 AM, and teams will depart at 9 AM with their assignments. A lecture by Jonathan Kozol, Award-Winning Author on Education and Urban Issues In 1967, at the height of the civil rights movement, Kozol lost his teaching position for reading a Langston Hughes poem to his class of fourth graders. The event resulted in the publishing of the first of his several acclaimed and highly influential books, Death at an Early Age, which catapulted the state of America’s schools into the national and political consciousness. His solid, qualitative research and expertise on education in America has made him a definitive voice on the subject.

Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price

Earlham's Annual Triathalon

Get ready to compete in the 23rd Annual Earlham Triathlon on Sat. April 28! The first heat begins promptly at 7:30 a.m. Individual and team registrations are welcome. You or your team will swim one mile, bike 19.2 miles and run 6.2 miles. The Tri is open to EC students, faculty, staff, alumni and the Richmond community. Registration runs through Wed., April 25, and forms are available at the Athletics and Wellness Center Welcome Desk. 2007 Earth Day Celebration

Wayne County Time Bank information session

For every hour you spend doing something for someone in your community, you earn one Time Dollar. Then you have a Time Dollar to spend on having someone do something for you. It's that simple. Yet it also has profound effects. Time Banks change neighborhoods and whole communities. Time Banking is a social change movement in 22 countries and six continents. A group of Wayne County citizens is working to make a Time Bank in our community a reality. Join us at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, May 16th at the Uptown Innovation Center for an information session for those interested in learning more about Time Banking in Wayne County. The event is free and open to the public.

City of Richmond Town Meeting

From the Pal-Item: The city of Richmond is hosting a town meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Discovery School, 900 S. L St. The meeting is part of city officials' attempt to meet residents, discuss problems and answer their concerns. Mayor Sally Hutton will attend with police chief Kris Wolski, street commissioner Bill Smith, metropolitan development director Tony Foster and sanitation representative Tim Lingar. Representatives from the Neighborhood Services Clearinghouse also will attend.

Changapalooza
