WCTV’s 20th Anniversary celebration will be held Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the WCTV studio in Hayes Hall on the IU East campus. We will have a brief business meeting, then share recognitions and awards before offering a facilities tour. Refreshments will be served. Also, on Sunday April 6 Channel 20 will be offering a slate of special programming to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Richmond explosion. Girls Inc. of Wayne County sponsors a free public talk as part of its "Got Girls? Giving Back" series. Mother, author and educator Lyn Mikel Brown titled "How adults can help girls be who they are, not what they are sold." The talk is open to the public, and recommended for parents, teachers, mentors, older girls (middle school & up) and adults working with girls. This free event is held on Weds. April 9 at 7pm in the Loose Lecture Hall of the Landrum Bolling Center on Earlham College in Richmond, IN. A reception with book signing follows. | ||

The Newlin Center for Quaker Thought is sponsoring Melanie Weidner, a Quaker contemplative artist and spiritual director, at the Richmond Art Museum on April 10 as part of a week-long residency. Her project, The Passion of the Earth, is an exciting eco-spirituality project retelling the creation story and an invitation to re-understand the care for our earth through the art of fabric. The story has been created in seven fabric panels which will be on display. The event is free to the public and no tickets are required. Presenter Professor Pamela Samuelson teaches courses on intellectual property, cyberlaw and information policy. She has written and spoken extensively about the challenges that new information technologies pose for traditional legal regimes, especially for intellectual property law. She is a fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), a contributing editor of Communications of the ACM, and an honorary professor of the University of Amsterdam. “A Night on the Town” A group of local high school students (Student Government Association) have taken on a huge project to serve their community. They will be hosting you, the community, for a night of dancing and entertainment. The Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra, a very well known and prestigious group, has been invited to Hagerstown Jr. Sr. High School to play the night away with Jazz, Swing, and Big Band classics.
