Sheldon Clark will be speaking about his experience in jail ministry. Sheldon is an Earlham School of Religion grad, a former head of a Quaker boarding school and as pastor at New Castle Friends, started a jail ministry.

Join us for Peace Forum, every Thursday (when class is in session) at noon in the Earlham School of Religion Dining Room. Free, tasty lunch and delicious conversation are always provided.

On Thursday, May 15 2008 from 6 to 8 PM, the City of Richmond will host an open house for learning more about the status of the Comprehensive Plan process. From 6 to 7 PM, visitors will be able to browse booths set up by each subcommittee of the comprehensive plan implementation committee, to learn about what's been done and what's still left to do. From 7 PM onward, visitors will have a chance to talk to and ask questions of the leadership involved in the plan implementation.

The event will be held on the 3rd floor of the Richmond City Building, in the lobby outside of Council chambers. For more information, contact the City of Richmond.

Cliff Kindy, from Christian Peacemaker Teams, will share about his experience in Iraq. Cliff has spent much of the past five years working in Iraq with CPT, and will talk particularly about his work with Muslim Peacemaker Teams.

The 13th Annual Uptown Picnic is on June 3, 2008 at 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. It is a celebration of the spirit of small businesses in our community, an opportunity for employers to show appreciation for their employees, an excellent netowrking opportunity and a great community event! The lunch consists of one grilled(hamburger, veggie burger, or hotdog), one cold side, a bag of chips, a freshly baked cookie and a coke/bottle of water. Tickets are $3.00 each in advance or $4.00 each the day of the event. This event is open to the entire community! WAYNE AND UNION COUNTIES SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT COLLECTION DAY

The Wayne and Union Counties Solid Waste Management District (WUR SWMD) is holding a Collection Day for their county residents on Saturday, June 7, 2008. The collection will take place from 9AM to 1PM at the old NATCO building parking lot on National Road West in Richmond, Indiana.

The only items to be collected at this one-day event are:
Washers, Dryers, Stoves, Refrigerators, Freezers, Air conditioners, Dehumidifiers, & Fluorescent light bulbs (whole and unbroken)
