Join us for Peace Forum's 2nd in a 6-week series on "otherness." Earlham College professor Charles Watson will talk with us about why we need enemies, and how to love them. Charles will discuss the dangers of oppositional difference, and the opportunities of complimentary difference.
Come at 11:45am to help the lunch line go quickly. Peace Forum is from noon to 1pm in the Earlham School of Religion Dining Room. Free, delicious lunch is always provided.

Peace, Pete Seeger, and the Power of Song

Allan Winkler is the author of the important new book, "To Everything There is a Season: Pete Seeger and the Power of Song." Allan is a folk musician and Distinguished Professor of History at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Join us to learn about Pete Seeger's peace witness through story and song.

Moral reasoning through play

Aaron Nell will explore the needs of adolescents and what strategies help them creatively engage moral reasoning through play. Aaron has been working with youth (particularly those suspended or expelled) for nearly a decade, and has immense wisdom and hope to share on this subject. Aaron has worked throughout the Richmond Community Schools, with the Boys and Girls Club, the Conflict Resolution Center, and more.

Peace Forum: A Congregation Heals from Violent Trauma

Last summer during a production of Annie, a man entered a Unitarian Universalist church and opened fire. Two people were killed, and several others injured. Reverend Chris Buice, Earlham School of Religion alum, will share about the church's healing process.
All are welcome at Peace Forum on Thursdays from noon-1:10pm in the ESR Dining Room. Delicious, nutritious lunch is always provided.

Prophets of Change: Advocating for a More Humane, Effective Criminal Justice System

Prison visitation and direct ministry with prisoners are more commonly practiced by people of faith with a concern for prisoners and the criminal justice system. As important as such activities undoubtedly are, we are also called to work for systemic change in order to bring about justice. Nonetheless, many people do not feel capable of engaging in advocacy. Jana Schroeder will share stories of ways that ordinary people have gotten involved in advocacy and will provide information about ways to get involved.
Peace Forum is a weekly lunch and speaker series hosted by Bethany Theological Seminary and Earlham School of Religion. Join us every Thursday during the school year in the ESR dining room from 12-1:10pm. Lunch is free.
