Please join us at Arden Hearth, 202 N. 15th St., for an elegant evening of sharing recitations and readings of poems or short excerpts from your favorite books. If all books were to be destroyed by fire, what fragments of literary greatness would you snatch from the flames? What lines of poetry are etched in your memory safe from the fate of ashes? After sharing our readings and reasons for preserving these writers, we’ll enjoy well-read conversation, coffee, and dessert in the charming setting of a fine old Victorian home of Richmond. continue reading »

Wayne County U

John Dalton, station director at WCTV, has this exciting announcement:
In celebration of our 20th Anniversary, the staff of WCTV has created special programs throughout the year to celebrate two decades of local programming by and for the citizens of Wayne County. We are using this milestone as a way to remind our viewers what public access television can mean to a community.
One program our staff developed was Wayne County U, a new show designed to support the educational discourse going on in our community at present by allowing content experts airtime to share important educational information. Our initial programs focused on completing the FAFSA and getting involved in the 21st Century Scholars program. This month we are showcasing “Math Fireworks” with Christie Joy, Workforce Development Facilitator for Adult Education; and “Workplace Safety Orientation” with Lisa Dollar of Personnel Management, Inc. We are committed to producing twenty episodes of Wayne County U from August 2008 to May 2009. continue reading »
