Take Back the Night!

Take Back the Night is an internationally-held march and vigil with the purpose of unifying women, men, and children in awareness of sexual violence and other forms of violence against women, children and families. It is about taking a stand against violence and making the night safe for everyone.

In Richmond, Take Back the Night is organized by the Earlham College student organization Action Against Sexual Violence, and this is the 11th consecutive year that it has been held in Richmond.

Please come and join us in front of the Richmond Municipal Building at 7pm for opening words and the march! The event will include:

Take Back the Night

Please come and join us in front of the Richmond Municipal Building at 7:30 p.m. for opening speeches and the march. The event will close with a candlelight vigil.

Sponsored by Action Against Rape, an Earlham College student organization.

International Day of Prayer for Peace

The youth of the Richmond Church of the Brethren invite the community to participate in a prayer walk and peace vigil! In honor of the International Day of Prayer for Peace, please join us at Mary Scott Park (NW 7th and NW A streets) at 8:15pm on Friday, September 21. At 8:30 we will begin walking to the courthouse, where we will have a short vigil. For more information, contact the Richmond Church of the Brethren at 966.1930 or richmond_cob@verizon.net.

March for Peace coming through Richmond

Everyone is invited to welcome the members of a cross-country March for Peace that will be arriving in Richmond Saturday evening, 8/18/2007. This is a group that left California in May and hopes to make it to Washington, DC by September 11th. The following events are planned to welcome them:

6:00 PM -- Greet the marchers at the main entrance to Earlham College, 815 National Road West.

6:15 PM -- Walk with the marchers on the last mile and a half of the day, east into downtown Richmond and north to Renaissance House.

7:00 PM -- Community potluck meal at Renaissance House, 302 N 11th St.

Take Back the Night March

The public is invited to join the Take Back the Night March on Thursday April 5, beginning at 6:30 PM on the "Heart," the center of Earlham College's campus. Take Back the Night is an internationally-held march and vigil with the purpose of unifying women, men, and children in awareness of sexual violence and other forms of violence against women, children and families. It is about taking a stand against violence and making the night safe for everyone. The march will proceed to the Richmond Municipal building, where around 7 PM, various speeches will be given and a vigil will be held.
