Master Naturalist Classes Begin

The Indiana Master Naturalist classes are a beginner's program of nature discovery and service learning for adults. It is being hosted by the Cope Environmental Center on Wednesdays from September 3rd through November 5th, 6-9 PM. The cost is $150 per person, and registration is limited.

The Master Naturalist Program is designed to provide hands on opportunities to learn about Indiana’s natural resources for beginning naturalists or those who are looking for a refresher course. It also provides a way for you to share that knowledge through volunteer service.  continue reading »

Guided Hike in Duning Woods State Nature Preserve

The Whitewater Valley Land Trust will host a guided hike in Duning Woods State Nature Preserve at 1:11 p.m. Sunday. The trail is modestly challenging and will take about two hours to complete. The hike will be held rain or shine.

The hike begins 2 1/2 miles south of U.S. 40 on Airport Road. Signs will be posted and parking and refreshments available. For more information, call (765) 962-2427.

Indiana Master Naturalist Program begins

Beginning on February 20th, the Cope Environmental Center and the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service will offer the Indiana Master Naturalist Program. The program provides indoor and outdoor experiences to learn about Indiana's soil, geology, birds, forests, wildlfowers and more. Participants who attend at least seven of the eight classes and complete 24 hours of volunteer service will be certified and receive an Indiana Master Naturalist pin. Classes will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Feb. 20 at the Cope Center education building. Registrations are being accepted and space is limited.  continue reading »
