Relationship-based Security

Oct 9 2008 - 1:10pm

The strongest security does not come from guns, police, armies or control, but from vulnerable and honest relationships. Richmond's Conflict Resolution Center contributes to these relationships throughout our community through working with suspended and expelled youth, mediating teen-parent and landlord-tenant conflicts, and teaching a depth and breadth of conflict resolution and restorative justice skills. CRC's Program Director Aaron Nell will share about this work at Peace Forum on October 9 at noon. Free, delicious lunch provided. Located in the Earlham School of Religion Dining Room on the campus of Earlham College in Richmond.

In Palestine/Israel, "security" is a word used often by the Israeli government, and its emotional appeal is deep. But the search for security goes both ways, and Palestinians long to feel safe in their homes as much as Israelis do. Margaret Hawthorn will share about her experiences in the region and her work to make the Palestinian story known.

Join us for Peace Forum every Thursday (when classes are in session) in the Dining Room at the Earlham School of Religion. Free, delicious lunch is always provided.

Join us for Peace Forum, a weekly gathering for free food, fellowship, and education, at noon on Thursdays in the Earlham School of Religion Dining Room.
Richmond (and many other small cities) seems to be emptying into the coasts. Jim & Vicki Hair have reversed that trend, moving here from Berkeley 1 ½ years ago. Since then, they have taken Downtown Richmond by storm, opening Richmond Art Works (full of Jim's photographs and other local artists' work) and Unwind Yarn Shop (where Vicki sells yarn and hosts knitting parties). Their vision for this city is inspiring – how will you get on board?
